The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, through the Fish Quality Control and Supervision Agency (BPPMHKP), announced the addition of 40 Fish Processing Units (UPI) that are now officially licensed to export to China. This achievement was reached following a rigorous verification and auditing process conducted by the General Administration of Customs China (GACC) to ensure all food safety standards are met. This expansion is the result of intensive technical cooperation between the two governments to streamline the trade flow of fishery products in the Asian region. By expanding this list of exporters, Indonesia is further solidifying its position as one of the primary suppliers of high-quality marine products in the global market in 2026.
For association members and industry stakeholders, this milestone offers a significant opportunity to increase the shipment volume of flagship products such as shrimp, skipjack, and tuna to international markets. The government remains committed to providing technical assistance for other processing units to meet the dynamic technical regulations in strategic export destination countries. The current primary focus is on maintaining product quality consistency and compliance with the mutually agreed fish health assurance system. Through this expanded market access, the national fisheries sector is expected to contribute more foreign exchange and enhance the welfare of business actors in a sustainable manner.
