Indonesian micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) products once again drew international attention at the Toronto Market Week 2026 exhibition, held January 24–27, 2026, at The International Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. The Indonesian Pavilion was officially opened by the Indonesian Consul General in Toronto, Vevie Damayanti, along with the Trade Attaché from Ottawa and the Head of the Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) in Vancouver. The pavilion showcased 95 new products from six Indonesian MSMEs — Bali Handy, Maharani Craft, Raya Craft, CV Tashinda Putraprima, Mawar Ketak Lombok Art, and Sheo Home Living — complementing over 200 Indonesian products already in the Canadian market. Items on display included bamboo vases, rattan baskets, decorative lamps, minimalist furniture, and various household accessories, all designed to suit Canadian consumer tastes while highlighting Indonesian innovation, quality, and unique design.
The pavilion was the result of strategic collaboration between the Indonesian government’s representation in Canada and financial partners, including LPEI, Bank BNI, and Bank BRI, aligning with the UMKM BISA Ekspor program by the Indonesian Ministry of Trade. Officials emphasized that such participation strengthens support for MSMEs to penetrate global markets, boosting product visibility and opening new export opportunities, particularly in North America. The Trade Attaché noted the significant role of MSMEs in Indonesia’s economy, contributing over 60 % to GDP and employing about 97 % of the workforce, and expressed optimism that trade agreements like the Indonesia–Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (ICA-CEPA), expected in 2026, will further enhance export prospects. Trade figures also showed growth in Indonesia-Canada trade and exports in 2025, underlining the potential for ongoing cooperation and expansion through international trade fairs like Toronto Market Week.
