Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade, in collaboration with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), held a business matching event in Jakarta to further enhance bilateral trade cooperation. The initiative aims to connect Indonesian suppliers with Japanese partners, encouraging deeper collaboration and reinforcing Indonesia’s position within global supply chains. The Ministry emphasized its commitment to supporting local businesses by facilitating partnerships with Japanese companies and retailers across various strategic sectors, while also promoting a healthy balance between domestic products and imports.
Beyond the well-established automotive industry, both countries see strong potential for cooperation in sectors such as furniture, home living, wellness, and beauty care. Officials from the Ministry of Trade and JETRO demonstrated their support by visiting an exhibition of Indonesian products and highlighting a dedicated database of local companies. JETRO Jakarta noted that the event aligns with Indonesia’s efforts to increase the value of downstream commodities, providing Indonesian suppliers with clearer insights into Japanese market needs. The forum is expected to generate mutually beneficial projects and further strengthen long-term economic relations between Indonesia and Japan.
