President Prabowo Subianto departed for the United Kingdom and Switzerland on Sunday, January 18, 2026, to take part in a series of strategic meetings aimed at strengthening Indonesia’s diplomacy on the global stage through both bilateral cooperation and participation in international economic forums. According to a written statement from Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, the President left from the Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base in Jakarta after first holding a meeting with the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Prof. Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, to discuss updates on current developments. Once in London, Prabowo is scheduled to meet with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss key strategic cooperation between Indonesia and the UK. In addition, he will hold a meeting with King Charles III, with discussions expected to include environmental conservation, nature preservation, and elephant conservation, alongside global philanthropic figures.
After completing his agenda in the UK, President Prabowo will continue to Davos, Switzerland, to attend the World Economic Forum (WEF). At this global economic forum, he is slated to deliver a keynote speech in front of world leaders and influential international economic actors, emphasizing Indonesia’s role in the changing global economic and geopolitical landscape. The visit also includes planned strategic dialogues with CEOs of leading multinational companies, intending to enhance economic diplomacy and expand Indonesia’s global economic engagement. This trip underscores Indonesia’s active role in international affairs and its ongoing efforts to fortify global partnerships.
