Indonesia recorded total investment realization of IDR 1,931.2 trillion in 2025, with domestic direct investment emerging as the main contributor, according to Investment Minister and BKPM Head Rosan Perkasa Roeslani. Domestic investment reached IDR 1,030.3 trillion, accounting for 53.4% of the total, while foreign direct investment amounted to IDR 900.9 trillion or 46.6%. Rosan highlighted that domestic investment growth has been outpacing foreign inflows, supported by stronger participation from local investors and the active role of the Investment Management Agency Danantara across sectors such as chemicals, healthcare, and waste-to-energy projects.
Looking ahead to 2026, domestic investment is projected to grow further and increasingly compete with foreign capital. Foreign investment in 2025 showed stable performance, rising 0.1% year on year, led by Singapore with USD 17.4 billion, followed by Hong Kong at USD 10.6 billion and China at USD 7.5 billion. West Java remained the top destination for foreign investment, attracting USD 9.2 billion, while the basic metal and related manufacturing industries dominated sectoral inflows. The government remains optimistic that balanced collaboration between domestic and foreign investors will support sustainable growth and strengthen Indonesia’s investment ecosystem in the coming year.
