Kadin Projects Indonesia’s Economy to Grow 5.4% in 2026

Indonesia’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) projects the national economy to expand by 5.4% in 2026, supported by stronger domestic consumption, resilient trade performance, and rising investment. Kadin Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie stated that the target is achievable if government spending becomes more productive and effectively stimulates consumption, particularly through well-targeted social programs and improved regional budget distribution. Household consumption remained the main growth engine in 2025, contributing more than 53% to gross domestic product, with household spending growing around 4.9% year on year.

Indonesia’s external sector also continues to provide solid support. Data from Statistics Indonesia showed a trade surplus of approximately USD 23.65 billion during January–July 2025, with exports reaching USD 160.16 billion and imports totaling USD 136.51 billion. On a monthly basis, the country recorded a USD 2.39 billion surplus in October 2025 alone. Kadin views this positive trade balance as an opportunity to further boost economic growth if leveraged optimally. Investment is expected to strengthen in 2026, underpinned by stable macroeconomic conditions and the role of Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund, BPI Danantara, reinforcing optimism for sustainable and inclusive growth.
