Indonesia and Italy continue to reinforce their strategic economic partnership amid global trade challenges, as highlighted during a meeting between Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto and Italy’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Tripodi in Jakarta. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation in key areas such as trade, investment, industry, energy, defense, technology, and maritime resilience, underscoring the complementary nature and long-term potential of bilateral relations built over 77 years of diplomatic ties.
Bilateral trade performance has remained robust, with total trade value reaching USD 3.9 billion in 2024 and USD 3.289 billion during January–September 2025, signaling sustained momentum. Italy emphasized Indonesia’s strategic importance in Southeast Asia and expressed support for the Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, which is expected to unlock new opportunities for both parties. Italy also showed readiness to enhance collaboration through high-technology companies, logistics optimization via European ports, and expanded cooperation in mineral processing, manufacturing, and value-added industries, reflecting a shared optimism for stronger and more diversified economic engagement.
