Indonesia Accelerates Development of Inclusive Religious Facilities in IKN

The Indonesian government is accelerating the development of religious facilities in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) to strengthen its role as an inclusive center for governance, social life, and spiritual interaction. The Minister of Religious Affairs emphasized that the Nusantara Religious Complex is designed to reflect interfaith harmony and national pride, aligning with the President’s vision of IKN as an iconic symbol of Indonesia. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring that IKN represents unity, tolerance, and cultural diversity from its early stages.

The Nusantara Religious Complex already features the IKN State Mosque as the hub for Islamic activities, while a Catholic basilica is nearing completion. Future plans include the development of a Christian church, Hindu temple, and Buddhist vihara, creating a shared worship space for multiple faiths. The IKN State Mosque is expected to become fully operational during the upcoming Ramadan and is planned for future expansion to accommodate growing religious and community activities, reinforcing Indonesia’s values of religious moderation and inclusivity in modern urban development.
