The South Sulawesi Provincial Tourism Office has reported an exceptional performance for the 2025 fiscal year, with total tourist arrivals reaching a milestone of 35 million. A standout highlight of this growth is the 24% increase in international tourists (wisman), signaling the region's strengthening appeal on the global stage. This success is attributed to the aggressive promotion of flagship destinations, such as the UNESCO Global Geopark Maros-Pangkep and Toraja, alongside an increase in international flight frequency and the successful hosting of large-scale MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) events.
For industry stakeholders and association members, this upward trend reflects a robust recovery and significant opportunities for investment in the hospitality and services sectors. The local government remains committed to enhancing tourism infrastructure and digitalizing marketing efforts to sustain this momentum into 2026. By focusing on sustainable tourism and diverse cultural experiences, South Sulawesi is positioning itself as a premier destination in Eastern Indonesia. This collaborative effort between the public and private sectors is expected to further drive regional economic growth and solidify the province's reputation as a world-class travel hub.
