The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) through the Directorate General of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health (Ditjen PKH) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Gowa Regency Government and PT Sumber Citarasa Alam (PT. Cimory Group) as well as a Collective Agreement between the Government of Gowa and Hasanudin University.
The signing of this memorandum of understanding is in the context of a tangible synergy between the central government, local governments, universities and private companies as well as other related stakeholders in contributing to developing animal husbandry and animal health or increasing the production of fresh milk. "I would like to express my gratitude to all those who have prepared this event. A big appreciation to the Government of Gowa for initiating and facilitating the investment of dairy cows and PT Sumber Citarasa Alam / Cisarua Mountain Dairy (PT Cimory) for planning to invest in milk processing. , "said the PKH Director General, Nasrullah.
This Memorandum of Understanding is also intended as one of the bases in the implementation of the development of livestock commodities in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi Province in the implementation of the livestock super priority program. This MoU aims to create good synergy between all parties in supporting the fulfillment of animal protein in Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi Province. The goal is to accelerate the development of livestock commodities and downstream, as well as improve the welfare of farmers and / or breeders. "The scope of this memorandum of understanding includes, development of livestock commodities, provision of facilities and infrastructure, facilitation of capacity building and human resource assistance, as well as other agreed upon needs," Nasrullah explained.
Nasrullah reported that nationally the number of dairy cows is relatively stagnant, which is around 0.5 million heads with domestic fresh milk production (SSDN) in the range of 0.9 million tons. According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the level of milk consumption of Indonesians in 2019 is still around 16.27 kg per capita / year.
Meanwhile, the demand for milk in Indonesia reaches 4.3 million tons per year, while the national milk products have not reached 1 million tons per year. So that the contribution of domestic milk to the national demand for milk is only around 22 percent in order to be sufficient, imports are carried out. For this reason, the entry of investment in the processing of dairy cow milk products by PT Cimory is the first step towards market certainty for dairy products in South Sulawesi Province, especially Gowa Regency.
In addition to market guarantees for dairy farmers, the application of technology in the handling of dairy products will provide added value which is a source of nutrition for the people in South Sulawesi. "I hope this can be a momentum to jointly increase production, increase livestock competitiveness, and innovate towards the development of people's livestock agribusiness as well as development of livestock business investment," Nasrullah said.
Today's event is also an effort to increase investment in encouraging domestic dairy cow milk production. By working together between the government, local government, private sector and universities. Minister of Agriculture (Mentan), Syahrul Yasin Limpo alias SYL said, to reduce imported milk production, the government has made various efforts. For example increasing the scale and efficiency of the livestock business, the economic capacity of farmers or business actors, market access, competitiveness and building mutually beneficial synergies, as well as justice manifested in the husbandry business partnership. He said the government is also trying to develop dairy cows through various programs and support for livestock development. So, it is hoped that the private sector and the farming community can support the development of livestock agribusiness and adopt a more efficient management system in order to compete in the international market. "Because, this will have an impact on increasing competitiveness in the global market, with awareness to modernize livestock technology and processing of livestock products, which in turn can contribute to increasing production and value added of livestock products nationally," said the Minister of Agriculture SYL.
SYL revealed that the support of various parties is very much needed in building this dairy industry. He hopes that the regional government together with Perusda and accompanied by universities can oversee strategic and operational steps in developing dairy cows in South Sulawesi, especially Kabupaen Gowa. SYL hopes that in the future these strategic and operational steps can be followed by other private companies by involving relevant stakeholders both in the scope of Local Government, Perusda and the central government. The hope is that it will further strengthen friendship and support the acceleration of better livestock development. "And don't forget to be integrated with one another from upstream to downstream," said the Minister of Agriculture SYL.
