East Kalimantan Releases Exports Worth IDR 37 Billion to the Global Market

The East Kalimantan provincial government participated in Indonesia’s nationwide simultaneous export release event by sending out regional export commodities valued at approximately USD 2.27 million (around IDR 37 billion) to international markets. The exported goods included value-added processed products such as plywood, rubber, various seafood, animal feed, charcoal, and damar resin. These products were shipped to several strategic destination countries, including the United States, China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Bangladesh, and Brunei Darussalam. According to the Provincial Secretary, Sri Wahyuni, the event not only boosts trade but also showcases East Kalimantan’s evolving economic structure, which is shifting from a reliance on raw commodities toward sustainable downstream processing and manufacturing industries.

Officials highlighted the role of the upcoming Nusantara Capital City (IKN) as a catalyst for transforming East Kalimantan into a major economic hub for central and eastern Indonesia. Samarinda was selected as one of eight Indonesian cities hosting the simultaneous export release, reflecting its successful economic transition momentum. The Acting Head of the Trade Policy Agency noted that East Kalimantan consistently contributes significantly to national exports and emphasized continued support for local businesses, including MSMEs, through programs that help them reach global markets.
