KKP Sets Ambitious US$75 Million Non-Tax Revenue Target for 2025 Capture Fisheries

The Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has expressed strong optimism that the Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP) from capture fisheries will reach IDR 1.19 trillion (approx. USD 75 million) by the end of 2025. This projected growth is attributed to comprehensive reforms in data governance and the optimization of PNBP collection mechanisms. Director General of Capture Fisheries, Lotharia Latif, emphasized that 100 percent of these revenues are redistributed to the community to fund strategic fisheries development. The allocation follows a proportional scheme, with 80 percent managed by local governments and 20 percent by the central government, supporting initiatives such as fisherman assistance, port rehabilitation, and the streamlining of business licensing across regional fishing centers.

Beyond financial milestones, the sector shows robust operational performance with total production projected to hit 7.85 million tons by year-end, surpassing the previous year’s figures. This growth is accompanied by an improved Fisherman Exchange Rate (NTN), which stood at 104.94 in November 2025, signaling enhanced welfare for local fishers. Strategic programs, including the establishment of 100 "Merah Putih" Fishing Villages and the distribution of over 10,000 fishing gear units, underscore the government’s commitment to the Blue Economy. These efforts aim to modernize infrastructure and resolve global trade barriers, ensuring that Indonesia’s fisheries remain competitive, sustainable, and highly productive on the international stage.
