K-Food exports to Indonesia reached USD 203 million as of October 2025, recording strong growth across key categories such as instant noodles at USD 16.27 million (+62.9%), soju at USD 1.04 million (+13.4%), ginseng at USD 0.58 million (+4.9%), and kimchi at USD 0.43 million (+23.6%). This positive momentum reflects Indonesia’s rising interest in Korean food products, supported by its position as one of the world’s largest halal markets. The progress was further advanced by aT and Korea’s Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs through their participation in Sial Interfood Jakarta 2025, where 24 exporters showcased diverse K-Food products and cooking demonstrations that drew strong engagement from national retail buyers.
During the event, aT completed 18 MoUs and direct contracts worth USD 14.53 million, reinforcing Korea’s focus on expanding halal-certified products for Indonesia. aT’s Director of Food Export, Jeon Ki-chan, emphasized Indonesia’s strategic importance given its large population and strong consumption potential. Korean companies are increasingly preparing to align with Indonesia’s evolving food regulations, particularly halal certification, to ensure stable long-term market access. Major Indonesian retailers, including FoodHall, expressed enthusiasm for offering halal Korean products, highlighting Indonesia’s potential as a key gateway for K-Food expansion across Southeast Asia.
