In a recent bilateral meeting held during the APEC 2025 Summit in Gyeongju on 1 November 2025, Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia and Lee Jae‑Myung of Korea reaffirmed their countries’ shared commitment to deepen cooperation across key sectors. President Lee emphasized that the Republic of Korea and Indonesia have built a robust, mutually beneficial partnership, now spanning economy, trade, investment, defence, and security. The discussion spotlighted their joint development project for the KF-21 fighter jet and referenced their historical bond from the 1955 Bandung Conference, underlining how values like balance, strategic autonomy and practical cooperation continue to guide Korea’s foreign policy stance.
President Prabowo expressed appreciation for the intensifying industrial-level engagement between Indonesian and Korean business sectors, highlighting ongoing negotiations around the KF-21 project and reaffirming Jakarta’s openness to sustained Korean participation in Indonesia’s economic growth agenda. He also stressed the importance of strengthening cultural exchange as a catalyst for creative industry growth, boosting Indonesia’s cultural competitiveness and augmenting its tourism sector. This broader view of collaboration aligns economic priorities with socio-cultural development and suggests a multi-dimensional framework for the bilateral relationship moving forward.
