The Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU–CEPA) marks a significant milestone in enhancing trade and investment relations between Indonesia and the EU. Speaking at the 9th KAS–CSIS Germany–Indonesia Strategic Dialogue in Jakarta, EU Minister-Counselor for Parliamentary Affairs Antoine Rippoll emphasized that CEPA symbolizes both regions’ shared commitment to a rules-based international trading system amid global uncertainty. He noted that the agreement sends a powerful message of support for multilateral cooperation and fair trade practices.
Deputy Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri stated that the substantial completion of IEU–CEPA represents a major achievement after nearly a decade of negotiations. According to her, the deal establishes a solid foundation for deeper collaboration in trade, investment, and sustainable economic growth. She expressed optimism that this momentum will encourage continued cooperation between Indonesia and the EU in navigating global geopolitical challenges. The dialogue also served as a forum to strengthen partnerships and strategic discussions in areas such as politics, economics, and sustainable development.
