Indonesia’s Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has launched the first export of shrimp certified free from Cesium-137 (Cs-137) to the United States. The shipment, departing from Tanjung Priok Container Terminal on October 31, 2025, meets FDA requirements under Import Alert #99-52, ensuring product safety and international market acceptance.
The certification process involves collaboration with the National Nuclear Energy Agency (BAPETEN) and the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to conduct scanning and testing across critical production points, primarily in Java and Lampung. The initiative highlights Indonesia’s commitment to high-quality assurance standards in seafood, with subsequent shipments scheduled to reach New York, Los Angeles, Miami, and Jacksonville.
