Indonesia has called on Indo-Pacific countries to strengthen cooperation and foster inclusive growth to sustain the region’s role as a global economic hub. Speaking at the ASEAN Indo-Pacific Forum (AIPF) 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto emphasized that the Indo-Pacific region contributes nearly two-thirds of global economic growth and almost half of world trade. Home to 60% of the world’s population, the region also generates over 50% of global GDP.
Hartarto reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to advancing inclusive growth through stronger regional connectivity, competitiveness, and public-private collaboration under the ASEAN Outlook on the Indo-Pacific (AOIP). He also highlighted the need for innovation-driven investments to build economic resilience. The AIPF 2025 featured key projects such as the ASEAN Common Carbon Framework, ASEAN Power Grid, and cross-border payment systems—initiatives aimed at deepening regional economic integration and promoting sustainable development across the Indo-Pacific.
