Tin Contributes The Clean Energy Transition

PT Arsari Tambang, part of the Arsari Group, has introduced a new eco-friendly tin product named Envirotin, developed using low-carbon technology and powered by renewable energy. The product launch took place during Minerba (Mineral and Coal) Convex 2025 at JICC in Jakarta. According to Aryo Djojohadikusumo, President Director of Arsari Tambang, the world is shifting toward clean energy, and tin plays a crucial role in this transformation—not just for traditional uses, but especially for electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, and advanced technologies like semiconductors.

Envirotin’s production process uses electric furnaces powered by renewable power sources such as hydropower (PLTA) and geothermal energy (PLTP) from PLN, Indonesia’s state electricity company. This approach, claimed to be free of emissions, aligns with ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) principles and Indonesia’s aspirations toward achieving net zero emissions. The company positions Envirotin not just as an upgraded version of mined tin but as evidence that Indonesia can take a leading role in the global green metals market. Additionally, Envirotin aims to supply materials for high-technology products—phones, laptops, and electric vehicles—with components originating in Indonesia, representing national pride even when final goods are imported.
