Indonesian Foreign Minister Meets North Korean Counterpart, Signs Bilateral MoU

Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono met with North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui in Pyongyang on Saturday, 11 October 2025, to strengthen bilateral ties. During the meeting, both ministers signed a renewed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the Establishment of Bilateral Consultations, reaffirming the long-standing diplomatic relationship between Indonesia and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).

The MoU serves as a platform to explore cooperation in areas such as politics, socio-cultural exchange, technical collaboration, and sports. Minister Sugiono also expressed Indonesia’s readiness to facilitate closer engagement between DPRK and ASEAN, including through active participation in ASEAN-led mechanisms such as the ASEAN Regional Forum (ARF). His visit also marked Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining constructive dialogue with DPRK, coinciding with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
