Strict PSBB Update, Only Applicable in Several Cities / Regencies

The government reiterated that the strict implementation of the PSBB will not apply to all of Java and Bali. However, it will only be applied in several cities / regencies on the two islands. The Coordinating Minister for the Economy as well as the Chairperson of KPC-PEN Airlangga Hartarto emphasized that the imposition of restrictions is only for areas that meet four high risk parameters. Starting from active cases, mortality rates, cure rates and hospital filling. "This is a priority for controlling Covid-19 in the region," he said in a statement received by CNBC Indonesia Thursday (7/1/2021). This is not without reason.

These regions recorded an increase in cases, but on the other hand it became a source of economic growth. "It needs to be emphasized again that efforts to maintain the momentum of economic recovery must be accompanied by efforts to control Covid," he said. The policy issued will also not refer to 'prohibition' but only 'restriction' of community activities and activities, especially those that have the potential to increase the number of cases. The imposition of restrictions in several cities / districts has been further regulated through Instruction of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 1 of 2021 dated January 6 regarding the Enforcement of Activity Limits for Control of the Spread of Corona Virus Disease 2019.

Here are some cities that are priority in the regulation:
•    DKI Jakarta (all regions)
•    West Java (Bogor Regency, Bekasi Regency, Cimahi City, Bogor City, Depok City, Bekasi City and Bandung Raya
•    Banten (Tangerang Regency, South Tangerang City)
•    Central Java (Semarang Raya, Banyumas Raya and the surrounding city of Surakarta)
•    Yogyakarta (Yogyakarta City, Bantuk Regency, Gunung Kidul Regency, Sleman and Kulonprogo Regency)
•    East Java (Greater Surabaya and Malang Raya)
•    Bali (Badung Regency and Denpasar City).

The central government asked the city / regency governments to implement strict PSBB on January 11-25, including by enforcing work from home up to 75%, online teaching and learning activities and restrictions on opening hours of shopping centers, aka malls, until 19.00 WIB.
