Statista, citing OECD data, has revised its projection for global gross domestic product (GDP) growth in 2025 down to 2.9%. This slowdown is expected to affect several countries in Europe. In contrast, the Asian region is projected to outperform European and American economies, with Southeast Asia—comprising Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam—positioned as a major driver of global economic growth.
According to Statista Data Journalist Felix Richter, OECD estimates that developing Asian countries will contribute 60% to global economic growth this year, up from 57% in 2023 and 56% in 2024. Citing OECD’s website, Indonesia’s GDP growth as a G20 member is projected at 4.7% year-on-year in 2025, while India and China are expected to grow by 6.3% and 4.7%, respectively.
