Jokowi Spreads Social Aids, Many Investors Interested in This Shares Sector

The government is currently preparing a new economic stimulus, namely assistance to workers with monthly salaries of under IDR 5 million. This stimulus is planned to start being distributed by the government in September 2020 through the Ministry of Manpower.
Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir as the Chief Executive of the Committee for Handling Covid-19 and National Economic Recovery Erick Thohir said that there are 13.8 million non-PNS and BUMN workers who are active in BPJS Ketenagakerjaan who will receive this government assistance.

"This stimulus program is being finalized so that it can be carried out by the Ministry of Manpower in September 2020. The focus of government assistance this time is 13.8 million non-PNS and BUMN workers who are actively registered with BPJS Ketenagakerjaan with contributions below IDR 150,000 per month or equivalent to IDR salaries below IDR 5 million per month, "said Erick in a press release, Tuesday (6/8/2020).

"Social aid of IDR 600 thousand per month for 4 months will be immediately given every two months to the account of each worker so that there will be no abuse," he continued.

After this news emerged, today it was seen that stocks moving in the retail sector were trading in the green zone. With the provision of social assistance, of course, people's purchasing power will increase so that the issuers who benefit the most are the issuers engaged in the retail sector.

Besides, other good news comes from data on Indonesian consumer confidence that continues to improve, the frequent relaxation of Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB). Although the Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) has not touched 100, it shows an upward trend.

"The Bank Indonesia Consumer Survey for July 2020 shows that consumer confidence in economic conditions is improving, even though it remains in the pessimistic zone (<100). This is reflected in the Consumer Confidence Index (IKK) of 86.2 in July 2020, up from 83.8. in the previous month, "said the BI report, Thursday (6/8/2020).

It was observed that five major retail issuers with qualified transactions all managed to accelerate in this afternoon's trading although the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) was still corrected 0.58% at the level of 5,148.27.

The gain was led by shares of PT Erajaya Swasembada Tbk (ERAA) which this morning rose 6.56% to a price level of IDR 1,625 / unit, while the slightest gain was recorded by PT Matahari Department Store Tbk (LPPF) which 'only' gained 0.40% to the level of IDR 1.265 / unit.
