The Immigration Directorate General has updated a number of regulations regarding foreigners who have been granted emergency stay permits by the Indonesian government because of travel restrictions amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The latest regulations – which were announced by the directorate general on its official Twitter account @ditjen_imigrasi – affects holders of valid temporary stay permits (KITAS), permanent stay permits (KITAP), visas on arrival and free visas who have been granted an emergency stay permit, in accordance with “new normal” protocols.

KITAS holders who have been granted an emergency stay permit may now extend their KITAS or apply for KITAP, according to the updated regulations. However, emergency stay permit holders who have reached the limit of their KITAS extension are required to leave Indonesia within 30 days from Jul. 13.
Similarly, KITAP holders with emergency stay permits can now extend their permits, while emergency stay permit holders who are no longer able to extend their KITAP are required to leave the country within 30 days starting from Jul. 13. Visa on arrival holders who have been granted an emergency stay permit may also extend their visas within the next 30 days.

Meanwhile, free visa holders who have been granted an emergency stay permit are instructed to leave the country within 30 days from Jul. 13. Failure to comply with the provisions will result in administrative sanctions, the directorate general stated.
The directorate general had previously extended automatic stay permits for foreign visitors arriving in Indonesia after Feb. 5. During the emergency measures, foreigners whose stay permits had recently expired would automatically be granted an emergency stay permit with no overstay fees.
