LPEI Promotes Export of Aromatherapy Batik from Madura to Foreign Countries

Lembaga Pembiayaan Ekspor Indonesia (LPEI) is actively promoting the export of aromatic therapy batik from Madura to international markets. This unique batik product emits fragrant scents of spices and flowers from the fabric, produced by Al Warits, a partner of LPEI since 2019. In their official release, LPEI reaffirms its commitment to establishing a sustainable export ecosystem, aiming to significantly contribute to national exports. They highlight their ongoing support for the batik aromatic therapy artisans, a hallmark of Madura. To foster a sustainable export ecosystem with significant contributions, LPEI collaborates with various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Finance (Customs and Directorate General of Taxes) and the Department of Cooperatives, Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) of East Java Province. Together, they provide guidance to 139 female batik artisans under Al Warits' mentorship from 11 villages in Bangkalan, Pamekasan, and Sumenep districts.

Warisatul Hasanah, the founder of Al Warits, acknowledges LPEI and the Ministry of Finance's training efforts aimed at strengthening the company's capacity and organization. The training covers financial reporting, company management, export procedures and licensing, as well as tax education to enhance the business capacity of the Batik Aromatic Therapy Villages. Ilham Mustafa, Head of LPEI's Consultancy Services Division, explains that the Desa Devisa program is designed to provide guidance with the aim of tapping into the export potential of regional flagship commodities. The Batik Aromatic Therapy Village Assistance Program has successfully facilitated the export of batik aromatic therapy products to countries such as the United States, Malaysia, Singapore, Korea, and Japan. LPEI remains committed to realizing a sustainable export ecosystem, aiming to create prosperity for batik artisans. Additionally, various training and assistance programs by LPEI for Madura's potbelly batik design and production capacity have yielded positive results. Production capacity has increased from 400 to 4,000 fabrics per day, and monthly incomes have risen from IDR 300,000 to IDR 1,250,000. According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), batik export performance reached USD 17.45 million in 2023. Indonesia's batik is predominantly exported to countries such as the United States (74.75%), Germany (3.61%), Singapore (3.23%), Malaysia (2.82%), and Canada (1.92%).
