In February 2024, North Kalimantan Exported Non-Oil and Gas Goods Worth IDR 1.23 Trillion to China

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of North Kalimantan province reported that the region exported non-oil and gas products, including coal, marine products, and timber to China amounting to USD 98.25 million or IDR 1.36 trillion in February 2024. Besides China, North Kalimantan also exported significant amounts to India (USD 90.76 million), Taiwan (USD 57.92 million), and the Philippines (USD 34.09 million), totaling approximately IDR 500 billion. In February 2024, North Kalimantan's total exports amounted to USD 366.80 million, up by about USD 5.8 million from January 2024. The exports comprised industrial products valued at USD 30.0 million, slightly down from January's USD 35.48 million. However, mining products saw an increase in value to USD 335.78 million from January's USD 323.57 million. Agricultural products experienced a slight decrease to USD 0.98 million from January's USD 1.07 million. The highest export value by commodity group was coal at USD 335.78 million, followed by imported tobacco products at USD 21.03 million, other fish and marine products at USD 7.55 million, and plywood at USD 2.33 million.


The value of exports comprising North Kalimantan's original products reached USD 127.03 million, predominantly led by mining products at USD 98.18 million and industrial products at USD 25.73 million. North Kalimantan exported products worth USD 123.19 million through the local port of Malundung in Tarakan City, while the rest were exported through ports in South Sulawesi (USD 1.19 million), East Java (USD 2.65 million), and others. Meanwhile, imports in February 2024 increased to USD 123.22 million from January's USD 109.98 million, mainly consisting of industrial products valued at USD 122.06 million. The dominant imported commodity groups included production machinery (USD 94.39 million), raw materials for cigarettes (USD 19.16 million), containers (USD 3.79 million), and electronic devices (USD 2.62 million). The countries of origin for non-oil and gas imports were China (USD 80.29 million), Sweden (USD 21.38 million), Singapore (USD 12.38 million), and Vietnam (USD 6.47 million). Considering the export-import values, North Kalimantan recorded a trade surplus of USD 243.58 million in February 2024.
