By the end of the first quarter of 2024, the Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) has launched a record-breaking 8.13 million Business Identification Numbers (NIB). This figure represents a significant milestone in NIB issuance, totaling precisely 8,131,284 NIBs. The breakdown includes 7,809,869 micro-enterprises, 202,249 small enterprises, 52,247 large enterprises, and 24,897 medium-sized enterprises. Tina Talisa, Special Staff and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Investment/BKPM, highlighted the role of NIB growth in driving national economic progress. She emphasized that obtaining an NIB enables businesses to transition from the informal to the formal sector, facilitating access to financial services and necessary certifications to enhance product/service quality. "This achievement is attributed to the business licensing reforms initiated by the government following the enactment of the Omnibus Law on Job Creation. Consequently, the government is committed to further improving the ease of doing business, aiming to facilitate easier access to business legality for more entrepreneurs," said Tina in a statement received on Wednesday (03/04/2024).
Tina also underscored the significance of high NIB issuance, indicating increased awareness among entrepreneurs regarding the importance of business legality. She noted the reliability and user-friendliness of the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, with continuous government efforts to enhance its functionality.The Ministry of Investment/BKPM, along with relevant ministries/agencies, continues to advance the OSS system to support investment growth in Indonesia. Efforts include integrating the OSS with Amdalnet, a system used by businesses to obtain environmental approvals. This integration aims to streamline the environmental approval process, a fundamental requirement for business licensing, further simplifying procedures for entrepreneurs.
