BPS: Jambi's Exports Reach USD 189.02 Million

The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Jambi Province recorded a rise in export value in February 2024, reaching USD 189.02 million, marking a 3.98% increase compared to January 2024's USD 181.89 million. Agus Sudibyo, Head of BPS Jambi Province, attributed this increase primarily to elevated exports of betel nuts, coffee, tea, cocoa, vegetable oils, paper, pens, and coal commodities. However, the cumulative export value until February 2024 stood at USD 370.81 million, reflecting a decline of 11.95% compared to the same period in 2023. The largest contribution to Jambi's total exports came from the mining sector at 68.78%, followed by the industrial sector at 27.31%, and the agricultural sector at 3.91%.

Within the industrial sector, rubber and its processed products dominated, contributing 15.10%. The mining sector's major contributor was oil and gas, constituting 60.33%, while in the agricultural sector, betel nuts contributed 2.23%. Agus noted that despite this, Jambi Province's export commodities still heavily rely on the mining sector, with over half of its exports originating from mining activities, encompassing natural gas, coal, lignite, crude oil, and others. Regarding ports, 53.49% of Jambi's exports passed through the Jambi port, while 46.51% were exported via other ports. The primary destinations for exports include Singapore, Japan, China, Thailand, and the United States.
