PT Moringa Indonesia Fangardana (MORIFA) Releases Export Of 20 Tons of Dried Moringa Leaves to China

PT Moringa Indonesia Fangardana (MORIFA) recently exported 20 tons of dried moringa leaves, loaded into a 40-foot container, to buyers in China. The export departure took place from MORIFA's warehouse and processing facility in Mojokerto on Monday (1/4), as stated in a press release received in Surabaya on Tuesday. CEO of PT MORIFA, Johnny Lone, expressed gratitude for this export achievement, attributing it to the collective effort of all involved parties. He highlighted the company's pride in aiding local farmers in Indonesia through such export activities, emphasizing the excellent quality of Indonesian moringa leaves for export. Lone revealed that they were even offered to supply 10 containers of moringa leaves monthly. However, the main constraint currently lies in the limited availability of large quantities of dried moringa leaves as raw materials and the sustainability to keep up with world market prices. In a bid to popularize moringa and expand cultivation and processing, MORIFA is also part of the Beyond Moringa Indonesia Association (ABMI). Both MORIFA and ABMI urge stakeholders interested in moringa, from farmers to processors, entrepreneurs, academics, and local governments, to collaborate in advancing Indonesian moringa to the global market.

Lamenting the competition with India, which currently dominates over 80% of the global moringa market, Lone called for unity among Indonesian stakeholders to make the country the world's number one moringa producer. Meanwhile, ABMI's spokesperson, Chaedar Saleh, highlighted the opportune moment to accelerate business development in the moringa commodity sector, citing the expanding cultivation area and increasing consumer interest in moringa's nutritional value. The establishment of the Beyond Moringa Indonesia Cooperative, involving multiple stakeholders from cultivation to marketing, is expected to attract farmer partners, industries, and traders. Besides exporting dried moringa leaves, PT MORIFA produces and exports other moringa raw materials such as moringa seed oil, moringa seeds, moringa extracts for food, and moringa extracts for cosmetics. Despite its abundant health benefits, moringa's utilization in the domestic industry lags significantly behind other advanced countries, despite being dubbed the "Miracle Tree" by WHO, as it can only thrive in tropical regions like Indonesia.
