Chairman of the Bilateral Cooperation Working Group (GKSB) of the Indonesian Parliament (DPR RI) and the Romanian Parliament, Nurul Arifin, has emphasized the mutual agreement between the two nations to enhance business cooperation while balancing trade relations. Following a meeting with the Romanian Ambassador, Dan Adrian Balanescu, accompanied by GKSB members Anton Sukartono, Nurul expressed the shared desire to strengthen cooperation across various sectors, including education. Nurul highlighted the existing trade imbalance between Indonesia and Romania, with Indonesia predominantly exporting products to Romania. Hence, Romania seeks balanced business cooperation to rectify this disparity, fostering mutual exports and imports between the two nations. Education cooperation was also discussed, including student exchange programs and language teaching initiatives, reflecting efforts to deepen bilateral ties.
Furthermore, Ambassador Balanescu conveyed Romania's parliamentary message regarding an upcoming visit to Indonesia, inviting Indonesian parliamentarians to participate in a business and investment meeting scheduled for April 22-24, 2024. This meeting aims to foster dialogue on business and investment opportunities. Anton Sukartono underscored Indonesia's significant export of natural resources to Romania, while Romania possesses potential imports such as weapons. This highlights the complementary nature of the two nations' trade relations, with Indonesia exporting natural resources and Romania potentially importing weaponry. Overall, the discussions reflect a shared commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation, addressing trade imbalances, and exploring opportunities across various sectors, including education and trade, to foster balanced and mutually beneficial relations between Indonesia and Romania.
