The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency (Menparekraf/Kabaparekraf) Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno has collaborated with the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) in the development and enhancement of halal tourism and the halal creative economy. The signing of this cooperation agreement signifies a synergy to advance the development of the creative economy and the economy of religiosity, particularly in the realm of halal tourism and religious tourism through the enhancement of resource capacities, information exchange, and collaborative activities. Sandiaga emphasized the regular consultations held with the MUI regarding contemporary issues related to halal tourism and the creative economy. All consultations and inputs from the MUI have been implemented by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf).
However, Sandiaga clarified that the signing of the memorandum of understanding represents a formal collaboration to advance halal tourism and the halal creative economy. The MUI will provide advice and input regarding the policies implemented by Kemenparekraf. Sandiaga underscored the importance of incorporating input and advice from the MUI, particularly in the development of creative economy and tourism. He expressed hope that this collaboration would create business opportunities, generate employment, especially for SMEs, and uphold Indonesia's position as the world's best halal tourism destination. He emphasized that this collaboration signifies a comprehensive approach and will bring forth more innovations aligned with Indonesia's principles as the first pillar to ensure activities in tourism and the creative economy adhere to those principles.
