Indonesia's Indigenous Fertilizer Exported to Kuwait and Africa

In the past three years, Indonesia's organic fertilizer marketed by Turrima has not only met the increasing domestic demand but has also penetrated export markets, particularly in Africa and Kuwait. CEO of PT Turrima Agro, Mas Mulyono, mentioned that while the domestic market absorbs 40% through B2B channels, the rest enters the retail market. For the African market, PT Turrima currently fulfills demands of only 4-5 containers annually. However, demand from Africa continues to surge over time due to its perceived success in improving and fertilizing agricultural lands there. This achievement has even garnered special recognition from the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Central Africa, Gabriel Mbairobe, who commended Turrima's organic fertilizer for enhancing both the quantity and quality of agricultural yields. Furthermore, it has proven to reduce environmental pollution and enhance soil quality.

Based on testimonials from their African partners, Mulyono highlighted that their organic fertilizer has successfully improved the leveling off of agricultural lands damaged by chemical fertilizers during the French colonial era. Levelling off indicates a decline in fertilizer efficiency due to soil health deterioration in physical, chemical, and biological aspects. Mulyono revealed that their partners have achieved a significant improvement in levelling off to 2 and boosted rice production by up to 40%. As a result, they invited guests from the World Bank to visit their factory in Sragen. Established in 1998 by Mulyono, PT Turrima primarily focuses on organic fertilizer production targeting both export and domestic markets, serving both B2B and retail segments. The company is committed to positively contributing to agriculture by providing environmentally friendly and sustainable products. Apart from its headquarters in Sragen, Turrima currently operates nine compost fertilizer plants across various regions, excluding partnership productions with several local farmers.
