The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded the value of Indonesia's non-oil and gas main commodity imports reaching USD 5.96 billion or approximately IDR 93.25 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of IDR 15,646) in February 2024. Acting Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, stated that the total portion of imports for these three commodities amounted to 38.53% of Indonesia's total non-oil and gas imports during the period of February 2024. Specifically, on a month-to-month basis, the import value of machinery/mechanical equipment decreased by 3.91% to USD 2.75 billion from USD 2.86 billion. Despite the monthly decline in machinery imports by USD 112.01 million, it still increased by 20.23% compared to the same period last year, reaching USD 2.29 billion in February 2023.
Additionally, the performance of the import value of electrical machinery/equipment also experienced a monthly weakening of 2.51% from USD 2.31 billion in January 2024 to USD 2.25 billion in February 2024.
