In Driving Inclusive Economic Growth, Indonesia Actively Maintains Stability in the Indo-Pacific Region

To support the realization of Indonesia Emas 2045 vision, the government has initiated economic transformation strategies, emphasizing inclusive growth as a key direction. One of the policy strategies pursued to promote inclusive economic growth is through international cooperation. Indonesia has actively influenced global economic directions by participating in various international fora. Presently, Indonesia stands as the first Southeast Asian and third Asian country to achieve Open for Accession Discussion status for full membership in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Minister of Economic Affairs Coordination, Airlangga Hartarto, highlighted Indonesia's role in shaping a conducive global economic environment through international cooperation. He emphasized the potential multiplier effect of global standards, such as those set by the OECD, in fostering international confidence in Indonesia's investment climate.

Indonesia's membership in the OECD is expected to yield significant implications. Government studies suggest an increase in Indonesia's GDP by up to 0.94% and a rise in OECD country investments into Indonesia by 0.37%, driven by heightened export demand from OECD members, which in turn stimulates domestic investment flows. In addition to its participation in international fora, Indonesia actively contributes to regional stability, particularly in the Indo-Pacific region. Stability and security in the region are crucial for the logistics and availability of commodities in Southeast Asia and the South Pacific. Therefore, Indonesia also plays a role in the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework (IPEF). Further efforts to promote inclusive economic growth include intensifying industrialization across sectors, from downstreaming natural resources to digital sectors, petrochemical industry development targeting 30 million tons for olefins and 5.6 million tons for aromatics by 2035, strengthening the automotive industry, semiconductor supply chain development, and enhancing logistics ecosystems to reduce logistics costs by 8% by 2045.
