Muslim LifeFair 2024 Returns to Foster Synergy in the Rise of Sharia Economy

The Muslim Life Fair (Mufair) 2024, inaugurated at Hall B3 Jakarta International Expo (JIEXPO) Kemayoran, Jakarta on Friday, marks the commencement of the National Halal Fair 2024, organized by the National Committee for Sharia Finance and Economy (KNEKS). This annual event, spanning 12 provinces during Ramadan 1445 Hijriah, aims to enhance literacy and integration within the sharia economy and finance sector (Eksyar) in Indonesia. Despite Indonesia's significant Muslim population, the current literacy index of the sharia economy and finance sector stands at 23.3%, as per a Bank Indonesia survey in 2022, an improvement from 16.3% in 2019. However, it falls short of the 50% target set by Vice President Maruf Amin. The Indonesia Halal Market Report (IMHR) 2021/2022 indicates a substantial potential contribution of over USD 5.1 billion or more than IDR 75 trillion to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from the halal industry sector. Bank Indonesia emphasizes the need to strengthen the halal industry, focusing on sectors like halal food, beverage, and Muslim fashion.

The Muslim Life Fair serves as a strategic platform within the National Halal Fair, supporting the growth of the domestic sharia economy and halal industry. Bank Indonesia predicts a growth of 4.7%-5.5% in Indonesia's sharia economy, aligning with the overall economic growth projections. The Acting Executive Director of KNEKS, Dr. Taufik Hidayat, highlights the fair's role in enhancing halal SME businesses and fostering collaboration for economic growth, particularly during Ramadan. The Muslim Life Fair offers various programs aimed at invigorating Muslim families during Ramadan, with expert-led events on family, parenting, and Islamic businesses. The fair also caters to families with children, providing entertaining and educational activities. Rachmat Sutarnas Marpaung, Chairman of the Indonesian Muslim Entrepreneurs Community (KPMI), anticipates around 30,000 visitors during the three-day exhibition. The National Halal Fair, a campaign by KNEKS and Regional Committees for Sharia Economy and Finance (KDEKS), aims to support the sharia economy's development, especially in the halal SME sector, and synchronize regional Ramadan agendas to promote sharia economic literacy. It will be held simultaneously in 12 provinces across Indonesia.
