The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy Introduces Gaming as a New Sub Sector Innovation through the Indonesian Creative Creation Appreciation Program (AKI) 2024

The Indonesian Creative Creation Appreciation Program (AKI) organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has launched its fourth edition in 2024, introducing gaming as a new addition to its seven subsectors, including culinary, crafts, fashion, applications, music, film, and gaming. The registration period, open from February 12 to March 31, 2024, targets 10,000 creative economy practitioners, with 360 participants to be selected from 12 cities/districts nationwide. Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno emphasized the program's role in turning creativity into tangible contributions to nation-building and job creation. Eligibility for participation requires Indonesian citizenship, a minimum age of 17, possession of a valid ID card and tax identification number (NPWP), and residence in Indonesia, with no registration fees. Prospective participants must meet specific criteria depending on their chosen subsector. For culinary, crafts, fashion, and application/gaming, a minimum of 6 months of business operation and a business certificate are required. Music and film applicants must present original works within the past 2 years, meeting additional conditions such as music video inclusion or affiliation with a production house.

The AKI program aims to culminate in September, featuring an exhibition to showcase participants' products and creations as part of its peak week. Yudiana, owner of HOMLIV and an AKI 2022 alumni, attested to the program's positive impact, noting increased brand awareness in the local market and expansion to over 400 outlets nationwide. With its emphasis on fostering creativity and supporting economic growth, AKI serves as a platform for aspiring entrepreneurs to showcase their talents and contribute to Indonesia's creative economy. Through initiatives like AKI, the government aims to harness the potential of the creative industry, drive innovation, and create sustainable job opportunities for Indonesian youth, thus contributing to the nation's economic development and global competitiveness.
