Jewelry Exports Reach USD 547.5 Million Throughout 2023

The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) noted that the export value of jewelry and precious items from Indonesia reached USD 547.5 million in 2023, marking a 67.7% increase compared to the previous year's achievement of USD 326 million. "This increase indicates that Indonesia's jewelry industry has opportunities for continuous growth and development in the international market," stated Reni Yanita, Director General of Small, Medium, and Various Industry (IKMA) at Kemenperin in Jakarta on Sunday (10/3). Reni emphasized that the domestic jewelry industry still holds significant potential to compete globally. This sector's strength is supported by the creativity and innovation of artisans who produce various jewelry products in line with evolving market trends and preferences."The export performance of the jewelry industry has been significant, making it a crucial contributor to the country's foreign exchange earnings.

Therefore, the Ministry of Industry is committed to further promoting the development of the domestic jewelry industry to enhance its global competitiveness," she said. According to Reni, the business opportunities in the jewelry industry remain promising as the trend of jewelry usage in daily activities among the community increases. "Furthermore, the jewelry designs produced by local artisans are becoming more diverse, leaning towards minimalistic yet functional designs in line with market demand," she explained. The Directorate General of IKMA at Kemenperin actively implements various jewelry industry development programs in the country. One such initiative is facilitating national jewelry industry players to participate in international-scale exhibitions, such as the Jakarta International Jewellery Fair 2024 held from March 7-10, 2024, in Jakarta. Out of a total of 140 participants involved in this exhibition, 20 industry players are supported by artisans under the IKMA Directorate General. The Jakarta International Jewellery Fair is held annually, serving as a platform for jewelry industry players and its supporting sectors, including manufacturers, distributors, stores, machinery companies, designers, and local small and medium-sized artisans, to meet with jewelry consumers.
