Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Office (BKHIT) Maluku has facilitated the shipment of 259 tons of frozen fish to Bali.

The Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Office (BKHIT) in Maluku, specifically through its Namlea Service Unit, has facilitated the transportation of 259 tons of frozen tuna to Bali. The fisheries commodities originate from Pasir Putih Village, Namlea, Pulau Buru, including skipjack, bullet tuna, bonito, and baby tuna, destined for Tanjung Benoa, Bali. Before departure, the commodities, valued at IDR 3.9 billion, underwent rigorous inspection by Maluku Quarantine Officers in Namlea to ensure compliance with quarantine regulations. These inspections encompassed organoleptic assessments and verification of quarantine documentation completeness. Collaborating with the PSDKP Satker Namlea, the fisheries commodities, owned by PT Intimas Surya, underwent further inspections before being transported to Bali using KM Mutiara 20. Following a thorough verification process, including type, quantity, and documentation checks, the commodities were cleared for shipment.

It's emphasized that these commodities have been declared free from Quarantine Fish Diseases and Pests (HPHK), ensuring their safety for distribution and consumption. To uphold stringent biosecurity measures, quarantine officers enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) at designated exit points to prevent the transmission of diseases and pests. This initiative aims not only to meet consumer demand in Bali but also to provide sustainable economic opportunities for local fishermen. The efficient facilitation of fisheries commodities underscores the commitment of the Maluku Quarantine to ensure the health and safety of animals, fish, plants, and their products for public consumption. Furthermore, the Maluku Quarantine maintains vigilance at 16 entry points for animal, fish, and plant traffic, bolstering surveillance efforts against the introduction and spread of diseases within the region. This meticulous approach safeguards the integrity of Indonesia's agricultural and fisheries sectors, contributing to the nation's economic resilience and sustainability.
