The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf) Continues to Promote Sustainable Green Tourism Growth

The Indonesian Sustainable Tourism Awards (ADWI) has seen a continuous rise in registrations since its inception in 2021. This year's theme, "Village Tourism Towards World-Class Green Tourism," reflects Indonesia's future tourism vision. Minister Sandiaga emphasized that ADWI 2024 aims not only to recognize achievements but also to provide guidance to selected tourist villages for their development, governance, and environmental sustainability. ADWI 2024 marks a commitment to mentoring programs, government support, and collaboration with strategic partners to enhance the capacity of tourist villages for long-term growth and benefits. The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy has also implemented the "Tourism Awareness Campaign 5.0" to foster awareness and a productive mindset among rural communities. Registrations for ADWI have steadily increased, with 4,812 tourist villages currently registered in the Tourist Village Network (Jadesta). Tourist villages interested in joining the program can register through the official website. The top 50 tourist villages will be selected for visitation and assessment by a panel of judges.

Evaluation criteria include Tourist Village Attractions, Amenities Readiness, Digital Utilization, Human Resources and Institutional Capacity Empowerment, and a new category, Resilience, focusing on village resilience against various risks and environmental issues. After assessment, the top 50 tourist villages will receive guidance aimed at optimizing their potential, strengthening destination governance, and ensuring sustainability for continued growth and long-term benefits. The best villages will be designated for the launch location of the following year's ADWI. The launch of ADWI 2024 recently took place in Bugisan Village, Prambanan, Klaten, aiming to positively impact the local community and further promote the development of tourist villages. Overall, ADWI 2024 represents a concerted effort to promote sustainable tourism development, empower local communities, and preserve Indonesia's rich cultural and natural heritage.
