US Trade and Development Agency Supports Archipelago IKN Project

The US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) has voiced its backing for Indonesia's New Capital City (IKN) Nusantara project, committing to fund associated electrical installation efforts. Director Enoh T Ebong is scheduled to visit Indonesia from March 6 to 8, 2024, as detailed on the official website of the US Embassy and Consulate in Indonesia. This visit serves to underscore and enhance USTDA's support for the sustainable development of Nusantara, emphasizing a dedication to assisting Indonesia in constructing a world-class capital with ambitions that extend to fostering collaboration opportunities and job creation.
During the visit, Director Ebong will participate in various USTDA-funded programs, including the inauguration of the USTDA Nusantara Business Forum, addressing smart city solutions and commercial opportunities to improve the new capital's livability. Additionally, he will conclude a workshop under the USTDA Global Procurement Initiative, providing training to 60 Indonesian officials aimed at optimizing the procurement of high-quality infrastructure for Nusantara. The director will also announce USTDA's support for a reverse trade mission to the US, introduce Indonesian officials to US city solutions, and unveil funding for the interconnection of electrical transmission projects between Indonesia and Malaysia. This comprehensive effort aligns with USTDA's extensive track record, having supported over 100 infrastructure development activities in Indonesia since 1992, making it the largest portfolio in the Indo-Pacific region by 2023. The agency's commitment further echoes the priorities of the Biden-Harris Administration, particularly the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment and the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity.
