Task Force Says Job Creation Law Encourages Increased Investment in Indonesia

The Task Force for the Acceleration of Socialization of the Omnibus Law on Job Creation (Satgas UU Cipta Kerja) reports a notable increase in investment trends post the enactment of the Omnibus Law. In 2023, Indonesia surpassed its investment target, reaching IDR 1.418 trillion. Tina Talisa, Chair of the Substantive Synergy Socialization Task Force for the Omnibus Law, expresses optimism about Indonesia reaching the 2024 investment target, set to increase to IDR 1.6 trillion. She commended the significant rise in NIB (Nomor Induk Berusaha or Business Identification Number) issuances, from five thousand per day before the Omnibus Law to eleven thousand per day in 2023-2024, emphasizing the need for appreciation.

The success in investment levels is attributed to effective collaboration between local governments and businesses, spanning micro, small, medium, and large enterprises. This collaboration involves capital investments in Indonesia. The surge is further fueled by government policies, such as the Online Single Submission (OSS) system, a risk-based integrated licensing platform. Despite progress, implementation challenges persist, including rule overlaps. Regional representatives suggested prioritizing the supervision of license verification and recommended revising the 2021 Government Regulation No. 5 on Business Licensing based on Risk Levels. In concluding remarks, Tina outlined the central government's commitment to rectify regulations, systems, and governance for future synchronization between central and local governments.
