The Targeted Contribution of Export Products in the Creative Economy Sector is USD 28 Billion

The Indonesian government aims to boost the creative economy sector's contribution to USD 25 billion - USD 28 billion in exports by 2024, fostering business opportunities and job creation. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, emphasized the importance of increasing export values during the Export Class AKI event in Jakarta. Sandiaga highlighted the need for stronger competitiveness among micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the creative economy sector to achieve this goal. He noted the success of participants in the Appreciation of Indonesian Creations (AKI) program, with a 15%-30% increase in turnover, stressing the untapped export potential. Through collaborative training between the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy and the Ministry of Trade, participants are expected to excel not only in domestic but also international markets, contributing to the 2024 export target.
Sandiaga also stressed the importance of job creation, aiming to generate around 24-25 million jobs in the creative economy sector, expecting increased export values to strengthen the economy and create employment opportunities. In terms of export destinations, Sandiaga urged industry players to target non-traditional markets, particularly economically promising regions such as Latin America, Central and Eastern Europe, Africa, South and Central Asia, and the South Pacific. Muhammad Neil El Himam, Deputy for Digital Economy and Creative Products at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, highlighted the ministry's commitment to facilitating the development of creative industry businesses towards international markets, with 1,200 registered AKI alumni over the past three years. The Export Class initiative, targeting AKI alumni from 2021-2023, received 112 applications across various sectors. Isy Karim, Director General of Domestic Trade at the Ministry of Trade, encouraged participants to leverage the ministry's 46 trade representatives worldwide for market expansion.
