NSI Investment Challenge 2024 Launch: Driving Investment Acceleration in North Sumatra

North Sumatera Invest (NSI) has launched the NSI Investment Challenge (NICe) 2024 aiming to boost investment growth in North Sumatra (Sumut). The event, titled "North Sumatera Invest Coordination Meeting & Launching NSI Investment Challenge (NICe) 2024," was held at the Santika Premiere Dyandra Hotel in Medan on Monday (26/2/2024). Arief S Trinugroho, the Provincial Secretary of Sumut, emphasized the importance of this initiative in driving investment opportunities across the districts and cities in Sumut. Considering the promising economic prospects of Sumut, Arief highlighted the potential increase in Sumut's economic growth in 2024, particularly through investment growth. The positive momentum is evident from the previous year's achievements, where the investment realization in Sumut in 2023 reached IDR 39.06 trillion, surpassing the Sumut Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) target of IDR 38 trillion. Dominant investment sectors include electricity, gas, clean water, food industry, transportation, warehouses, and telecommunications. Simalungun Regency, Medan City, and South Tapanuli Regency lead in driving investment realization.


Arief emphasized the importance of motivating other districts and cities to accelerate investment achievement in their respective regions. Through collaboration with NSI, Sumut Province and the Bank Indonesia (BI) Representative Office of Sumut continuously strive to enhance investment achievements, not only through various investment promotion activities but also through investment realization during NSI Day events in 2022 and 2023. Yura A Djalins, Deputy Head of the BI Representative Office of Sumut, highlighted the necessity of maintaining a conducive investment climate in Sumut. With stable economic growth, Sumut has demonstrated success in overcoming global uncertainties. The economic growth prospects of Sumut in 2024 are projected to remain high, between 4.5% to 5.3%, with investment being one of the main drivers of sustainable economic growth. In conclusion, Yura expressed hopes for Sumut to optimize investments in various regions by providing incentives to investors, thus achieving more equitable investment distribution across Sumut. Through the NSI Investment Challenge 2024, this initiative aims to catalyze the acceleration of Sumut's economic development through sustainable investments.
