Southeast Sulawesi Province Exports 120 Tons of Fisheries Commodities to the United States and the Philippines

Southeast Sulawesi Province (Sultra) has resumed fisheries commodity exports, with Secretary of the Provincial Government, H. Asrun Lio, overseeing the export of 128 tons of tuna fish and blue crab meat to the Philippines and the United States at the Pelindo Kendari container port on Tuesday (20/2). Representing the Acting Governor of Sultra, Andap Budhi Revianto, Asrun Lio stated that the exported fisheries commodities are estimated to be worth IDR 17,914,387,500, thanks to synergy efforts from various fish processing units in Kendari. This export initiative aims to attract investors to Sultra and promote economic growth. Asrun emphasized the crucial role of fisheries commodity exports in boosting the economies of countries with abundant fisheries resources, contributing to income generation, economic growth, and community welfare. He highlighted the importance of product quality and safety in enhancing international market competitiveness and improving export values. Additionally, Asrun stressed the significance of sustainability in fisheries product outcomes, urging the maintenance of ecosystem balance and sustainable fishing practices.


Expressing gratitude to all stakeholders involved in the export activities, including fishermen and business actors, Asrun underscored the benefits of exports in showcasing Sultra's marine resources and attracting investor interest. He emphasized the potential of these concrete actions to stimulate the development of fisheries products in Sultra, benefiting the local community and Indonesia as a whole. Asrun pledged continuous support for exports in Sultra and highlighted the pivotal role of higher education institutions in preserving the marine ecosystem. The event was attended by various stakeholders, including the Quality Control and Monitoring Agency for Marine and Fisheries Products, the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum of Southeast Sulawesi Province, heads of regional government agencies, and representatives from several seafood companies.
