The National Food Agency (Bapanas) extends its support for the entry of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (UMKM) into the export market, as discussed during a business meeting in Dubai, UAE. Rachmi Widiriani, Director of Distribution and Food Reserves at Bapanas, emphasized the collaborative efforts between the government and UMKM, particularly those in Indonesia, aiming to facilitate the successful penetration of products into international markets. Attended by the Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE and the Ambassador to Tashkent, Uzbekistan, along with representatives from 23 Indonesian companies and 19 Uzbekistani companies, the meeting focused on post-Gulfood Dubai 2024 actions, intending to strengthen international business cooperation and foster cross-border collaborations.
As part of the Bapanas delegation attending the Gulfood Dubai 2024 exhibition, Rachmi highlighted the importance of discussions post-visit, seeking to enhance business collaborations among nations. Bapanas emphasizes the crucial role of UMKM in the export market and stresses the necessity of ensuring food safety standards for exported products. The issuance of Health Certificates (HC) is emphasized as a pivotal safety standard for Indonesian exports, minimizing rejections from destination countries and facilitating smoother national business activities. Bapanas remains committed to promoting international standards to enhance the competitiveness of national food products globally, acknowledging and appreciating the efforts of fresh food export-import businesses in registering their products as a conscious step towards ensuring food safety. Arief Prasetyo Adi, Head of Bapanas, concludes by underscoring the significant potential of Indonesian UMKM in the global market and the need to support their market expansion for increased contributions to the national economy.
