Leony Lervyn, Vice Chairman of the Indonesian Petroleum Association Convention & Exhibition (IPA Convex) 2024, anticipates that the upcoming event will attract global investors to Indonesia's oil and gas sector, aligning with the government's energy transition goals. The theme, "Gaining Momentum to Advance Sustainable Energy Security in Indonesia and the Region," emphasizes the crucial role of the oil and gas industry in ensuring energy availability during this transition and Indonesia's regional leadership potential. Set to take place from May 14-16 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, IPA Convex 2024 aims to underscore the necessity of oil and gas sector investment for future industry needs. Leony highlights Indonesia's promising position in the sector, positioning it as a potential regional leader.
IPA Convex 2024 will feature a range of events including CEO Forums, plenary and technology sessions, technical programs (TPC), exhibitions, youth programs, and the energy night. These events will address strategic issues in the oil and gas sector while educating the youth about its importance. Marjolijn Wajong, Executive Director of IPA, stresses the ongoing need for oil and gas investments to meet Indonesia's energy demands and ensure energy resilience. IPA Convex 2024 is seen as a critical platform for cross-issue discussions, providing valuable inputs for the government to optimize the oil and gas sector's contribution to Indonesia's economic growth. The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities (SKK Migas) reports significant investment growth in the sector, with realization reaching USD 13.7 billion or approximately IDR 210 trillion by the end of 2023, marking the largest investment in eight years. SKK Migas has set even higher investment targets for 2024, signaling a strong commitment to further develop Indonesia's oil and gas sector.
