Central Kalimantan is Projected to Become a Food Buffer for IKN

The Provincial Government of Central Kalimantan (Kalteng) is strategically positioning itself to become a crucial food supplier and primary supporter for the National Capital (IKN) of the Archipelago. Deputy Governor Edy Pratowo highlighted the region's potential in producing staple crops like rice, corn, and soybeans, along with a diverse range of horticultural commodities. Initiatives since 2023 include the construction of Close Houses for poultry and a feed processing plant. Additionally, the development of the Rice to Rice and Rice Milling Plant for rice processing, along with the Green House Smart Farming project for horticulture, is underway. Despite acknowledging the learning curve and challenges ahead, these efforts signify a proactive approach to bolstering the region's agricultural capacity.

To further enhance their capabilities, the Central Kalimantan Provincial Government conducted a purposeful visit to Lampung Province, seeking insights and experiences in agricultural development. This initiative aligns with the Governor's vision for comprehensive value chain development in food crops, particularly corn, from upstream to downstream. Governor Arinal Djunaidi of Lampung welcomed interregional collaboration, emphasizing the necessity for collective efforts in economic development. Recognizing the importance of shared knowledge, technology, and experiences, he urged regions to collaborate, build networks, and collectively enhance their competitiveness for a stronger and more resilient regional economy. The hope is that through these collaborative efforts, tangible forms of synergy will emerge, contributing to the collective growth and strength of regional economies.
