Live Mud Crabs Weighing 9.3 Tons from East Kalimantan Exported to 3 Countries

In a recent export endeavor, East Kalimantan (Kaltim) facilitated the export of 18,107 live mud crabs, weighing 9.3 tons, to China, Singapore, and Malaysia. This shipment comprised 16,841 crabs to China, 457 to Singapore, and 809 to Malaysia. Before departure, East Kalimantan Quarantine officials rigorously inspected the crabs, ensuring compliance with documentation and confirming the accuracy of commodity types and quantities. Physical examinations were also conducted to verify that the crabs were free from quarantine fish diseases and met the minimum carapace length requirement of 12 cm for export.
Anton Panji Mahendra, the Acting Head of the SAMS Sepinggan Airport service unit, emphasized the importance of ensuring the health and suitability of commodities before export to guarantee favorable reception in destination countries. Tasrif, the Acting Head of the East Kalimantan Quarantine, highlighted the mandatory quarantine reporting for all fisheries commodities slated for export, in line with the provisions of Law Number 21 of 2019. He emphasized the significance of inspections in preventing the spread of quarantine fish diseases to destination countries and ensuring the quality and safety of exported commodities. This export initiative underscores East Kalimantan's commitment to facilitating international trade and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. By adhering to stringent inspection protocols and regulatory requirements, East Kalimantan aims to maintain the integrity of its exports and safeguard the health and safety of consumers worldwide.
