In 2023, Tegal Regency saw investment realization amounting to IDR 2.04 trillion, surpassing the set target of IDR 1.6 trillion by 127.47%. Kosim, the Head of Data Control and Management at DPMPTSP Tegal Regency, expressed optimism due to this positive trend, attributing it to the region's appeal as an investment destination. Five Industrial Allocation Zones (KPI) have been designated to accommodate large-scale industrial needs. The Minimum Wage in Tegal Regency is competitive, standing at around IDR 2.10 million per month in 2023 and increasing to IDR 2.19 million per month in 2024. Foreign direct investment, particularly in labor-intensive industries, contributed to lowering the open unemployment rate from 9.64% in 2022 to 8.6% in 2023. Investment has become a key driver of Tegal Regency's economy, providing job opportunities. Kosim highlighted the availability of a growing workforce, especially in labor-intensive industries, facilitating job creation and reducing unemployment.
Foreign direct investment dominated in 2023, with IDR 1.36 trillion, comprising 85% of the total investment. This resulted in the employment of 6,289 Indonesian workers and 91 foreign workers. Major investors included PT Adonia Footwear Indonesia and PT Leea Footwear Indonesia, with plans to employ around 8,000 workers in the Lebaksiu KPI, directly impacting job creation and welfare improvement. However, challenges remain, as some businesses fail to comply with investment report submissions, hindering investment realization. Efforts such as technical guidance, business facilitation, monitoring, and media awareness campaigns are underway to address these challenges. Expectations are high for increased investment realization in 2024, surpassing previous targets, further boosting Tegal Regency's economic growth and job creation.
