Italy showcases its presence at the Fitur international trade fair in Madrid from January 24 to 28, 2024, aiming to export the country's essence to Europe. The Italian Ministry of Tourism, Enit, regions, municipalities, and the Republic of San Marino, alongside key stakeholders and public-private sector leaders, including Calabria, Campania, Emilia-Romagna, Liguria, Piedmont, Puglia, Veneto, the City of Naples, ITA Airways, and 22 companies, convene at this event, graced by the presence of the Spanish Royals and Italian Ambassador Giuseppe Buccino Grimaldi. Minister of Tourism Daniela Santanché inaugurates the Italian Pavilion following institutional meetings with counterparts Zaritsa Dinkova (Bulgaria), Angie Duarte De Melillo (Paraguay), and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama. The fair also features a cultural synergy with the Arena di Verona for a special concert at the Cultural Institute in the Spanish capital. Spaniards exhibit genuine dedication to Italy, considering it their top tourist destination abroad (7.49 out of 10), especially for cultural vacations, preferred by 72% of Spaniards who have previously visited Italy and 67% intending to choose Italy for future holidays.
In the first nine months of 2023, Spanish travelers visiting Italy increased by +35.6% compared to the same period in 2019. Italy remains a preferred destination for Spaniards, offering unique experiences and learning opportunities from diverse cultures, enhancing tourism's specificity.
