The Italian nautical transport sector is undergoing a significant expansion phase, with a consistent rise in turnover reaching 7.3 billion Euros. This increase is the result of aggressive strategies in global markets and careful diversification aimed at overcoming macroeconomic obstacles. The United States is the primary reference market, but despite this, the Italian sector demonstrates remarkable resilience. Italian supremacy is evident in the superyacht field, with 50% of the world's production marked by the tricolor flag. This segment appears robust, with an order portfolio extending forward until 2027.

However, the landscape is multifaceted, with a clear distinction between luxury production and that dedicated to a more "popular" nautical tourism, currently facing greater challenges. Issues are particularly noticeable in the domestic market, where demand is less vibrant. Despite the challenges, supportive policies are well-oriented towards strengthening the sector. Initiatives such as the plan for scrapping marine engines and the modernization of port infrastructures reflect the intention to support and incentivize the nautical industry. This overview was provided by Marina Stella, the General Manager of Confindustria Nautica, during a conference on nautical tourism within the International Forum on Italian Tourism held in Genoa, in collaboration with "Il Sole 24 Ore" and the Liguria Region. The goal is to promote constant innovation and sustainable solutions for the progress of the maritime tourism sector.
